Review: The 2011 season so far...

I thought you got wiser as you got older. I guess this comes with taking risks, new challenges and looking at ways to improve. However, especially in sport I never seem to stop learning about myself when things aren’t always going quite the way I would like. The base season was going really well and maybe a little too well in pushing the boundaries of the body. Getting excited and looking forward to the season ahead I found myself having to take a step back with a foot injury leading in the first races of Mooloolaba and Sydney. Being a little frustrated I found myself trying to rush things for Madrid and lost track of preparing myself for the bombarding swim starts of the World Championship Series races. The most vital part of the race I was getting lost in the washing machine of girls and letting the race go on ahead without me. So they say sometimes you have to take 2 steps back in order to take 1 forward. I re-assessed things, missed Kitzbuhel and went about changing things for Hamburg. It paid off and being a cold wetsuit swim – which is not my ideal conditions it set me up for a podium finish and to be a part of history celebrating with the two other Aussie Emmas. Next stop was London – the official Olympic course and I was excited to see what was in store. Feeling a little more rested and more race ready after Hamburg I had prepared as much I thought I could. Unfortunately, the only thing I wasn’t able to prepare for was the English summer weather. Considering being very accustomed to warmer conditions I was really happy to have a strong swim, despite it being without a wetsuit. However, the not so favorable cold wind outside played havoc with my body and I suffered really badly on the run with cramps all through my legs and my asthma playing up with dust along with it. So although 5th may not have been the result I was hoping for it has really given me an insight into what precautions for the cold I would need to take, if I get the ticket to race in less than 12months time at the Olympics. So we may get older and wiser, though we never stop learning!!!! Emma.

So excited to be back on the Podium in a WCS race and what better way to celebrate with the other 2 Aussie Emma's!! Thankfully the rain held off just in time as we could wash off the German beer from the podium celebrations. It was Age vs Youth in my first ever sprint finish with young Emma Jackson. Very excited for the future of our sport and for Moffy to be back in top form. Thank you to all the crowd in Hamburg for your support - luckily it wasn't hard to be biased as to who to cheer for:) Looking forward to London in 3 weeks!!! Emma.
A big thank you to Anna and Jörg Scheiderbauer for putting on such a great event in Offenburg (Germany) yesterday! It was a great opportunity for a short hit out before Hamburg next week in an extremely professionally run event. I look forward to competing there again and having a better look around the area of the Black Forrest. GALLERY OFFENBURG More photos... Event Homepage Results: Women: 1.

I love this blog! My sister got me onto in and though fashion is not something I have much of an opportunity to spend the time on when you are changing outfits maybe 5 times a day, but still cool none the less to see what I might want to wear when I hang up the run shoes. After a trip to Milan at the end of the last season I can’t help but be more addicted to beautiful clothes, shoes and bags. http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/
